Workshops can take place anywhere-  in the classroom, outdoors or indoors. All that is needed is an open space, the students, and the provided instruments.

Kashaka clinic at the Portland State University Percussion Academy

Kashakas are beneficial not only for percussionists, but for all musicians of any skill level. They are a great tool for developing dexterity and rhythmic comprehension, as well as helping students learn how to properly subdivide rhythms.
With the instrument being relatively unknown in the U.S., my dream is to take what I learned from my masters in Japan, Africa, and Brazil, to educate others and provide access to the instrument and create America’s first kashaka community.
